Christmastime in NYC 2019

Happy New Year! Can you believe it’s 2020!? While I know we are already in January of the new year, I just had to post about when J and I were in New York last month.

Before our trip, J and I had not been back to New York together for probably a year and a half. The last time we were there together, we had 2.5 years of long-distance dating under our belts, and were about to move in together permanently. This was our first time back since, and of course, we had to make it around the holidays!

We went to New York the weekend before Christmas, and I actually planned our entire Saturday as a bit of a surprise and gift for J! Some of the daily activities he knew were going to happen, but some I kept a surprise until minutes before they happened.

Some of the things we decided to do together included exploring various parts of the city and also stopping by two of our favorite places: Central Park and McNulty’s Tea & Coffee Co. Our walk around Central Park was particularly special this time because the ice skating rink was up and people were skating around with the city as their backdrop. It was gorgeous! We also had to stop by McNulty’s (our favorite place to get tea!) because they have so many varieties of amazing tea, and we always love getting new ones to try when we are in the city.

One of the surprises I lined up for J was tickets to The Book of Mormon on Broadway! He (and I!) loved it! It was our first time seeing the show and we had so many good laughs and both thoroughly enjoyed it.

I also made sure that we went to our favorite Greek restaurant (which I will continue to keep as one of our best-kept secrets ;)), to Rockefeller Center to see the tree, and up Fifth Avenue to see the storefronts lit up for Christmas.

On our Christmas-themed walk, we also saw the Saks Fifth Avenue light show which is a light show that Saks does every year on the side of their building.

While we were there, we also saw the Saks Fifth Avenue window displays which had a Frozen II theme this year!

Before we left on Sunday, we stopped by The Shops at Columbus Circle where we got to see another mini light show featuring the lovely indoor star display.

I always love going to New York at Christmastime, but this time seemed especially magical. It was the perfect way for us to get in the holiday spirit 🙂

Until next time, New York!
